River Manifold
River Manifold
A lovely stream holding native wild brown trout, wander at your hearts content.
This is a truly wonderful small river which is situated in the aptly named Manifold Valley in the Peak District.
Our stretch is about 6 miles. There are places that can be fished from both
banks.
There are limited parking places available but access on foot is very good.
The fishery is managed as a wild trout fishery and is presently not stocked in an attempt to promote wild trout fishing and to maintain the genetic purity of the wild fish as much as possible.

River Dove
A slightly larger river, made famous by Izaak Walton in his book,
"The Complete Angler" the River Dove is a picturesque river
holding brown trout and grayling.
This is probably our best small river fishery which holds lots of wild brown trout and grayling.
This is a superb water and in a beautiful spot in the Peak District.
Derbyshire County Angling Club has the rights to approximately 3 miles of the Dove here.
If you want to catch large brown trout this is probably not the place for you. A fish of a pound is a good fish even though much larger fish are caught occasionally.
There are also some excellent grayling to be caught but this section is not available to coarse anglers.

Henmore Brook
A couple of miles of delightful small brook fishing.
You won't catch huge fish here, but the peace and tranquility abounds.
Wander at your hearts content, catch a few natural brownies and relax.

Ogston Reservoir
Ogston is one of the clubs original waters from it's foundation in 1959.
The water is stocked by the club with rainbow trout and can provide excellent
fishing.
Generally a "top of the water" fishery, sport can be hectic when conditions are
right.
Most fly fishing methods work well here with lures being popular during the early
season but later in the season, from late April, buzzer fishing can give
tremendous sport especially in the evenings. In addition, there are good
hawthorn hatches and great fly life throughout the season.

Island Lake
Island Lake fishery is a former gravel pit of about 20 acres in size, stocked with
rainbow trout by the club, it can provide good sport with small nymphs and dry
flies.
Due to its position in the floodplain of the River Trent it can flood from time
to time so care needs to be taken in wet weather to ensure that you are not
stranded as the access lane can flood before the lake.
Rowing boats are provided for use by members and float tubing is also popular on this fishery.

Farm and Widgeon Lakes
Both lakes are situated on the same farm near to in Nottinghamshire, both are about 10 acres in size.
Even though they are only a short drive from each other they are like chalk and cheese and are stocked with both rainbow and brown trout.
The Farm Lake (Coneygre Farm), as its name suggests, is close to the farm and the periphery is grassland.
Some natural bank fishing is available but most of the fishing is done from purpose built platforms.
Widgeon Lake, which is further away from the farm buildings and is accessible by a track.
Open all year but brown trout must not be taken before 1st April or after 7th October.
The DCAC also have a stretch of the river Trent here which is only available to full members.

Hoon Hay Lake
Hoon Hay Lake is a small still water fishery of about 6 acres.
A superb smaller still water exclusively for club members, some members have described this as a more intimate small still water.
Open all year but again, brown trout must not be taken between the 7th of
October and the 1st of April.
Small dries and nymphs such as Hares Ear, Shipman's and Buzzers catch very well here, with a floating line and 5lb leaders the norm.

Sutton Lake
Sutton Lake is situated in North Nottinghamshire and is about 17 acres.
This is a clear shallow water which is best fished in a stealthy manner.
This lake is open all year but is primarily managed as an autumn and winter
fishery with the stocking of rainbow trout and a few brown and blue trout.
Open all year but again, brown trout must not be taken between the 7th of
October and the 1st of April.

Tiln Lake
Tiln Lake is about 22 acres in size and is stocked by the club with rainbow trout.
It is close to Sutton lake but is much deeper.
Float tubing is allowed here and members do well with this way of fishing but, you must obtain a permit before using your float tube.
The banks are flat and easily accessible, the fly life is good and excellent catches are made here every season.
Open all year but again, brown trout must not be taken between the 7th of October and the 1st of April.
